ACCW ADOPTED RESOLUTIONS FOR 2009-2011

Whereas, More than 37 million people in America live in poverty;

Whereas, Twenty-five million people in America sought help from food banks in 2008

Whereas, One in six of Americans living in poverty are children; and

Whereas, More than two-thirds of Americans living in poverty are employed;

Resolved, That the Council of Catholic Women will work toward understanding our responsibilities to better serve those in need and to work together to break the cycle of poverty;

Resolved, That the Council of Catholic Women will call upon our government to do more to improve public policies to strengthen and support families in poverty; and

Resolved, That the Council of Catholic Women will work with organizations and actively encourage participation across the nation to address poverty issues
